<p>First Tunisia, then Egypt. Since mid-December 2010, a revolutionary wave of demonstrations and protests has spread to 16 Middle East and North African countries. Political columnist and author Rami G. Khouri assesses the reasons for the citizen revolts across the Arab world, the responses of ruling regimes, and the prospects for transitions to pluralistic democracies.
